The Steel Rooms Workshops  The Steel Rooms workshops

Level: Suitable for established artists as well as beginners

Tutor: Rob Moore

Date & Time: Saturday 17 August 10am – 4pm

Cost: £46 per person includes light refreshments

The Workshop:

Artist Rob Moore returns to The Steel Rooms again offering a one day workshop making pieces based on abstraction. It is envisaged that on completion of the session participants will have made several quick mixed media studies including collage before making an acrylic painting or larger mixed media piece based on one of the successful compositions. The session will include an introduction by Rob showing some work of his own to lead into and inspire work on the day. The workshop is suitable for established artists and beginners as personal support and direction is possible through the small group size.

A bit about Rob Moore

Rob studied at Loughborough and Sheffield Colleges of Art. At Loughborough he had the basics instilled into him via drawing and use of colour. At Sheffield he was left to himself to explore abstraction and become familiar with the work of the Cubists and Abstract Expressionists.

He taught in several art schools after completing the Granada Fellowship in Fine Art at Manchester Poly. Before leaving education to paint full time Rob was Dean at Hull School of Art.

Rob has lectured widely in the UK and abroad, set up studios and printmaking workshops for himself and other artists in both Hull and Scarborough. He initiated and ran Studio Eleven Gallery in Hull for several years and continues to curate exhibitions in various galleries in the UK. Until recently he was a board member for Friends of The Ferens Art Gallery.

Rob embraces change and challenge in his life and art and his work has encompassed the figurative, the representational and the abstract. This workshop will tap into many of Rob’s skills and interests where he is looking forward to working with a new group of people.
