Jake Attree: Drawing to a point
A Two-part professional development day by internationally acclaimed artist, Jake Attree.
Portfolio sessions: The afternoon will begin with a talk on what Jake’s experiences as an artist have been, followed by a series of perhaps 20-minute one-to-one sessions, looking at portfolio work and, if requires, some advice on approaching galleries and how participants might go about building a career in the arts.
How this is done will be as individual as the artists who are doing it. So, come, to one or both sessions – whichever you like, you will be very welcome!
Bring with you
Some strong drawing paper (we will have some available for purchase on the day); charcoal and a variety of grades of pencils; drawing pens and/or oils pastels if you wish.
Note books; 2d and 3d artists – your portfolio with a small range of works – please note that time will be limited depending on the number of attendees, so think about maybe 6 pieces which represent your practice, or a couple of pieces that you might like help with; these may be backed up by digital representations, but the encounter of the physicality of your work will provide the most accurate feedback; film and digital artists – your work on a laptop or tablet as appropriate.
Born in York in 1950, Attree attended the Art School there in the late 1960s, going on to Liverpool College of Art on what was then the Diploma in Art & Design (DipAD) course, and later to the Royal Academy Schools to do Post-Graduate Studies. In 1987, he and his wife returned to Yorkshire, moving to the World Heritage village of Saltaire. He has a studio in Dean Clough, Halifax and exhibits regularly both nationally and internationally. His work is held by numerous private and public collections in Britain and abroad.
He is represented internationally by Messum’s of Cork Street.
