Whilst some of our workshops may sound like you have to have some experience, we promise you the tutors welcome and are equipped to tutor all levels from beginner to those regularly practicing writing, sculpture, art in some way and most of our sessions are aimed to give you a taster and set you on your own creative way 🙂
Obviously they’re all highlights to us, here are just a few:
Published author and well versed tutor Sue Wilsea is back with an exciting line up of Creative Dayschools to get your Creative writing juices flowing. These sessions also prove to be a hotbed of creative idea sharing within the group but not in a scary daunting ‘you have to be a writer’ way 🙂
Our Willow workshops are a popular choice and get snapped up, so be sure to get in there quickly to secure your space. This year we’re offering two dates at the beginning of the year to make a Willow Bird with willow expert Alison Walling.
Photographic Artist Tina Waller has a background in journalism as well as teaching and is putting both to use in the …After Bird Photography in Place 1 day workshop visiting local Nature Reserves with the aim of putting together a documentary series of photographs as she did in Gallery Steel Rooms recent ...After Bird exhibition. Draw from her experience as an exhibiting artist and tutor who has a regular photographic practice. Tina also runs one off Digital Photography workshops here, designed as an introduction using your camera proficiently and confidently.
New to our 2019 Workshop Programme:
Artist Linda Ingham has a wealth of experience and knowledge painting and exhibiting portrait paintings and is now set to proffer this through a regular monthly workshop Navigating Portraiture. Linda will be here the second Monday of the month going through the fundamental elements of portraiture and observational drawing and painting as well as a range of techniques including mark-making, using colour and modelling tone. She’ll also reference artists as part of the sessions so you get a little art context thrown in for good measure starting with Frida Khalo on Monday 11 February 12noon – 4pm
Mono Printing with Mrs Bertimus, is an opportunity to spend time and learn with this artist and tutor, also known as Letitia Thompson. This session is all about experimentation and just being up for having a go. There’s a bit of abstraction and if you want a bit of stitching and collage including using images as transfers. And to boot the technique we’ll be using is Gelli Printing which is a very accessible way to print – do on your kitchen table (although we definitely advocate getting your own art space set up 🙂 ) method and get the creative juices flowing without being too daunted.
